Denmark sees record land-based gaming figures
However, overall gambling revenue for October was down by a quarter year-on-year.
Denmark. The gaming regulator Spillemyndigheden has reported gaming revenue of DKK525m (€70.6m) for the month of October.
That’s a decrease of 25.6 per cent year-on-year and 7.1 per cent from September despite land-based casino revenue hitting a record DKK38m for the month.
The biggest decline was sports betting, which saw revenue fall 56.9 per cent year-on-year to DKK131m. Sports betting revenue for the first ten months of the year is down 3.2 per cent to DKK4.25bn.
Online casino revenue was down very slightly year-on-year at DKK241m. After increases in previous months, revenue for the year to date remains up by 8.7 per cent year-on-year.
A record for land-based gaming
Land-based casino revenue, which has already began to recover in September, hit a record DKK38m, up from DKK32m in October 2020 and DKK35m in September.
Meanwhile, revenue from slot machine arcades was DKK115m, the highest it’s reached this year but still down 10.2 per cent from October 2020.
Revenue for the ten months was down 28.6 per cent due to closures due to Covid-19 measures in the first quarter.
