Delaware reports US$16.8m in sports bets
The state revealed its financial results for September’s sports betting activity.
US.- Ever since the US Supreme Court decided to lift the federal ban on sports betting states have been trying to take advantage of the benefits and regulate as soon as possible the gambling modality. Delaware, one of the states that approved full scale sports betting operations, has reported good results for September operations.
The state regulator said that sports betting revenue more than doubled during last month’s operations. There were approximately 340k wagers placed by punters at the three licenced facilities in Delaware.
The numbers show that the three facilities registered US$16.8 million in bets in September, approximately US$7.7 million more than what was wagered in August. The increase can be attributed to the start of the National Football League (NFL) season. Delaware Park is once again the top scorer in the state, as punters bet US$11.6 million in September, approximately 60% of all bets in the state.
