Delaware reports sports betting turnover
The state collected more than US$7 million during its first three weeks of operations.
US.- According to information released by the Delaware Lottery, total sports betting handle reached the US$7 million mark in the first three weeks of operations. Governor John Carney took the first legal bet on July 5th.
The governor had signed the bill to allow the three state casinos to offer sports betting on the last day of May, while the first bet was placed less than a week after. The three facilities that were authorised to offer the gambling modality generated over US$322k during the first day of operations.
During the first three weeks of operations, the facilities totalled US$7 million, but there was one casino that managed to collect way more than the other two: Delaware Park’s sportsbook took in wagers of US$5.2 million, while Dover Downs Hotel & Casino collected US$1.1 million of the state’s handle. Moreover, Harrington Raceway accounted for US$590k in wagers. The difference can be explained in the number of wagers, as Delaware Park reported 51,000 bets placed, Dover Downs 11,657 and Harrington approximately 7,100.
