US.- This week Delaware became the first state in the US to offer full-scale sports betting services. The three facilities that were authorised to offer the gambling modality generated over US$322k during the first day of operations.

Delaware Lottery Director Vernon Kirk said that Delaware Park, Dover Downs Hotel & Casino and Harrington Raceway & Casino, the three facilities authorised to offer sports betting, totalled US$322,135 in just the opening day.

Delaware Governor John Carney, who placed the first bet ever during the Philadelphia Phillies-Chicago Cubs MLB’s game, said: “For us, it’s really an enhancement of our tourism industry. It will attract a lot of visitors to our state, particularly at this time of year, during the summer, coming to our beautiful beaches south of here. They come here and stop at the casinos and do slot machine and table gaming. This will be another opportunity for them.”
