Danish gambling revenue rises in May
Revenue was also up month-on-month, according to the gambling regulator’s report.
Denmark.- Figures from the Danish gambling regulator Spillemyndigheden’s latest monthly statistics show that the total gambling revenue in May reached DKK683m (€91.5m). That’s a rise of 19.5 per cent year-on-year and 2.6 per cent from April 2025.
The growth in online casino was 40.1 per cent compared with May 2024, reaching DKK389m (€52.1m). Slots made up 83.1 per cent of this, followed by blackjack (6.4 per cent) and roulette (5 per cent), and then poker, bingo and other games.
Land-based casino gaming saw the same result as in May 2024 at DKK32m (€4.3m), whereas betting saw a decrease of 6.3 per cent to DKK154m (€20.6m). Land-based slot machines generated DKK105m, up 8.3 per cent with machines in gaming halls generating 79.7 per cent of the total and those in restaurants the remaining 20.3 per cent.
This year has seen the introduction of commercial regulated land-based bingo in Denmark after new regulations came into effect on January 1. Revenue in May was DKK3m, the same as in April.
Denmark’s ROFUS gambling self-exclusion scheme had 62,284 people registered at the end of the month. Over 63 per cent opted for permanent exclusion.
This month saw the launch of the LeoVegas sportsbook in Denmark. Meanwhile, the court at Frederiksberg approved Spillemyndigheden’s request for blocking orders against 178 gambling websites. It’s the biggest round of blocking orders secured by the regulator since it started taking this kind of enforcement action 2012.
