Colombia expands iGaming market
The online gaming market in Colombia would soon include live casino offerings.
Colombia.- Colombian authorities have decided to keep increasing local offerings for the iGaming market after huge success of legalisation. The measure recently took effect in the market, specially focused on online gaming casino platforms and sports betting competitions. Now players would also be able to enjoy live casino services.
The announcement was released last Friday by Coljuegos, the gaming authority controlled by the national government of Colombia. The new feature would further position Colombia as the most innovative gaming market in the Latin American region, as the country was the first to regulate the online gaming sector.
The biggest proposals include allowing operators to conduct live dealer baccarat, blackjack and roulette games as well as their random number generator (RNG) casino products. Virtual sports and racing products, along with keno games, would also be allowed.
Meanwhile, Coljuegos and the Colombian Justice Department are focused on ending illegal gambling in the country, through recent regulations. Once gambling, lottery and horse racing were legalised this year, the main target was to shut down the businesses that currently operate without licenses. Further regulations are expected soon, as new features are approved.
