The company has said that over $122,000 was donated to 50 organisations participating in Winsday.

US.- Churchill Downs Incorporated (CDI) has announced that over $122,000 was donated to nonprofits through Winsday, the company’s first week day nonprofit-focused derby event. Spectators purchased tickets from 50 participating nonprofits to help their causes.

The event also included a Charity Post Draw, in which twenty nonprofits were randomly paired with a Derby horse. Some of the organisations participating were Adventurous Minds Produce Extraordinary Dreams (AMPED), Americana World Community Center, Backside Learning Center, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kentuckiana, Boys & Girls Clubs of Kentuckiana, Buy Local Louisville Foundation, Community Foundation of Southern Indiana, Creasey Mahan Nature Preserve, Critically Loved and Day Spring.

Claire Simms, CDI’s senior director of corporate social responsibility, said:  “We’re incredibly proud of the generosity shown through ‘Winsday’ and the overwhelming community response. This initiative was about more than just a race day; it was about celebrating and supporting some of the nonprofits that make our region stronger, more compassionate and more connected.”

Mark Whitten, CDI’s director of community relations, added: “We’re especially grateful to the Community Foundation of Louisville for their invaluable partnership in helping us bring this vision to life. We hope to build on ‘Winsday’s’ momentum in the years to come and are committed to growing our support for nonprofits through enrichment and continued collaboration.”

CDI’s financial results for the quarter ended March 31 show revenue was $642.6m, up 9 per cent compared to the same period last year amid the continued expansion in historical racing machine (HRM) venues and the April 2024 opening of Terre Haute Casino Resort in Indiana. Net income attributable to the company fell 5 per cent to $76.7m. Adjusted EBITDA reached $245.1m, up 1 per cent year-on-year.
