Churchill Downs appoints new member to board of directors
Andréa Carter brings over 20 years of Human Resources expertise.
US.- Churchill Downs Incorporated has announced the appointment of Andréa Carter to the company’s board of directors. Carter has over 20 years of professional experience in human resources across multiple industries and is currently serving as senior executive vice president and chief human resources officer for Global Payments in Atlanta.
Before joining Global Payments in 2017, Carter was chief HR officer for Habitat for Humanity. She has held executive HR roles at Ralph Lauren, Newell Rubbermaid and The Home Depot. She holds a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies from Tennessee State University and is a graduate of the Executive Leadership Council Class of 2022.
Carter has been recognised with distinctions and awards including: Atlanta Business Chronicle’s “Women who Mean Business,” Atlanta Magazine’s “Women Making a Mark,” Savoy Magazine’s “Power 300 Most Influential Black Executives,” Women’s Inc “Most Influential Women Execs in Corporate America”. She is a 2021 recipient of the UNCF MASKED award (Mankind Assisting Student Kindle Educational Dreams).

Carter was appointed as a Class II director. Her term will expire with the other Class II directors at the 2025 Annual Meeting of Shareholders. Her appointment expands the board to nine members.
