Cherokee Nation experiences grand opening
The newest casino from the Cherokee Nation tribe officially hosted its grand opening on Tuesday.
US.- After only one year of construction, Cherokee Casino Grove welcomed hundreds of people who wanted to celebrate the newest gaming facility. “This new casino allows us to bring our leading entertainment and hospitality experience to Grove,” said chief executive officer of the tribe, Shawn Slaton.
“We are known for quality guest service, being a great place to work and being an excellent community partner. It is exciting to be a part of this vibrant economy, and we look forward to serving this market,” Slaton added. John Baker, Cherokee Nation Principal Chief, said: “It’s a beautiful day in Cherokee Nation, especially under the heaters. Who would have thought this when we started eight months ago?” The 39,000 square feet Cherokee Casino Grove features 400 electronic machines, a full-service bar, an entertainment venue and a space for meetings. Earlier this year, the Principal Chief, said that the casino will offer more than 100 jobs, and that such number for a county with a population of 41.000, is impressive. “This will change the lives of 175 families, they will no longer have to commute to Tulsa or will come off unemployment,” he said.
Cherokee Casino Grove is the third one in Delaware County, and according to Marty Follis, Grove Mayor, the opening of the newest facility is an exciting time for Grove and the Grand Lake Area. “This is a wonderful economic benefit to Grove,” he added.
