Cherokee Casino Grove opened in Oklahoma
The casino built by RedStone Construction offered a soft opening yesterday.
US.- Cherokee Casino Grove, the newest casino from the Cherokee Nation tribe, opened its doors yesterday, after only a year of construction. Cherokee Nation officials expect to fully launch the facility in January 2017.
The 39,000 square feet Cherokee Casino Grove will offer 400 electronic machines, a full-service bar, an entertainment venue and a space for meetings. Earlier this year, Bill John Baker, Cherokee Nation Principal Chief, said that the casino will offer more than 100 jobs, and that such number for a county with a population of 41.000, is impressive. “These will be jobs on all different levels. Everything from high paying jobs to entry level jobs, and sometimes those entry level jobs are just as important as the high paying jobs. This will change the lives of 175 families, they will no longer have to commute to Tulsa or will come off unemployment,” he said.
Marty Follis, Grove Mayor, said to Miamiok that this is an exciting time for Grove and the Grand Lake Area. “This is one piece of the puzzle to help make this place be what we want it to be,” he added.
