Casino de Neuchâtel in Switzerland gains igaming licence

It’s the ninth land-based casino to receive a licence to offer online casino gaming in the country.

Switzerland.- Casino de Neuchâtel has become the ninth casino in Switzerland to receive an online gaming licence from the country’s Federal Gaming Board (ESBK).

The casino, located on Lake Neuchâtel in the north west of Switzerland, plans to offer online casino games and poker. It will need final approval from the operator before beginning to register customers.

The Swiss igaming market has continued to expand since launching in July 2019. Groupe Partouche’s Casino du Lac in Meyrin launched slots and table games on its Pasino.ch site earlier this month.

Only land-based casinos are allowed to apply for licences to offer online gaming in a market that generated CHF23.5m (€21.7m) in its first six months, during which only four brands were active.

Since then Casino Interlaken and Grand Casino Bern, both owned by Casinos Austria International, have launched their StarVegas.ch and 7Melons.ch sites.

Casinos Austria International’s Casinò Lugano has also secured a licence.

ESBK, meanwhile, has named a new president. Fabio Abate will replace Hermann Bürgi from January 1.
