Canada.- Gateway Casinos and Entertainment has reported that its Cascades Casino North Bay is on schedule to open in the first few months of 2022. The opening was delayed from 2020 because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Work at the venue located on Pinewood Park Drive was allowed to resume this April.

Gateway Casinos and Entertainment Ltd. is one of the largest gaming and entertainment companies in Canada, with 26 gaming properties in British Columbia and Ontario and two properties in Edmonton.

Rob Mitchell, director of communications and public affairs for Gateway Casinos, said: “It’s on schedule and we’re quite focused and pleased with the progress we’ve made”.

According to North Bay Nugget, Mitchells has said that the company is hiring staff for the opening of the new property. The available job positions have been posted on the recruitment website Indeed.ca. Additionally, the property will be also hosting an online job fair from December 7 to December 15, 2021.

Mitchell said he has been in constant communication with North Bay mayor Al McDonald’s office, along with local MPs to keep the schedule on track. He said an official opening date will be announced shortly. The casino project is expected to cost CA$31m and create up to 300 jobs.
