Canterbury Park Holdings proposes new casino in Nebraska
The firm said the venue would boost the area’s economy.
US.- Canterbury Park Holdings have proposed a new casino and a horseracing track in Nebraska. It’s submitted presented its proposal to Kimball City Council and County Commissioners.
The proposal includes a hotel and event centre north of Interstate 80, west of Highway 71.
Canterbury Park Holdings representative Mark Montross said: “We are here on the first step to hear your input. Our board is adamant that the local community’s support must be there for any project we move forward with.
“We are not here to be your local, neighborhood casino. We are here to be a true destination resort that drives an economic engine into the area”.
Montross estimates the casino would pay $6.6m to the state annually in gaming tax, with $1.6m staying at the county and local levels. It would also pay an estimated $1m to local governments through property tax.
