Canada.- The Canadian Gaming Association (CGA) has named Scott Vanderwel, CEO of PointsBet Canada, as its new chair. Meanwhile, Amanda Brewer has been appointed as senior vice president of policy and communications and Brandon Aboultaif as vice president for Western Canada.
CGA also announced that Salim Adatia, managing director of Canada for Gaming Laboratories International, and Mike Maodus, partner of Blake, Cassels & Graydon, have joined the board. Three past chairs, Ilkim Hincer from IC360, Carrie Kormos from CK Consulting, and Bob Parente from Light & Wonder, have been named emeritus members of the board.
Brewer served as a consultant to the association for over 15 years, while Aboultaif is the former press secretary to Dale Nally, Minister of Service Alberta and Red Tape Reduction. Aboultaif’s key responsibilities include advancing industry research and education initiatives, supporting member engagement across Western Canada, and fostering collaboration on responsible gaming, innovation and market development initiatives.
Paul Burns said that with the Alberta market opening soon, it was important goal to expand the body’s presence into the western part of the country.
He commented: “Amanda brings extensive CGA experience, while Brandon contributes knowledge of government policy at both federal and provincial levels. Coupled with our enhanced board, I am confident they will help drive CGA’s objectives and ongoing growth.”
