California: 70 detained in raid on illegal gambling operation

Police raided a property in Anaheim following a bust on a neighbouring property in October 2020.

US.- Police have arrested 70 in a raid on an illegal gambling outfit disguised as a furniture store in Anaheim, California.

According to local media reports, police seized several gaming machines and firearms from the property.

Authorities obtained a search warrant to carry out the raid after two months of surveillance. SWAT officers and other personnel were dispatched.

Police described the business as a “24-hour-a-day operation every day.”

Back in October, police had detained about 70 people at another illegal gambling operation in Anaheim located just next door.

The news comes as many official casinos in California were once again forced to close in December due to a hike in coronavirus cases in the state. Card rooms were also affected.
