“Colombia’s success is an indicator that more countries will follow its example”
(Exclusive interview).- Marzi Turrini, SVP BD Europe & South America at BMM Testlabs, talked with Focus Gaming News about the upcoming edition of FADJA.
FADJA Colombia reunites the most important companies in Latin America and gives them the opportunity to expand their businesses. Taking place on April 10-11 in Bogota, the event is set to become key for companies in the region this year.
Marzi Turrini, SVP BD Europe & South America at BMM Testlabs, talked with Focus Gaming News about this year’s event and shared the company’s goals for 2019.
BMM Testlabs will participate this year at FADJA Colombia, while several countries in the region are planning on expanding their gaming industries and updating their current legislation. What are the company’s goals for this special event?
BMM SOUTH AMERICA experienced huge growth thanks to the Colombian market in the past two years. FADJA is an extremely important event for us. It represents a unique opportunity to meet our existing customers, new potential ones, and all those players that are looking forward to seeing new online markets opening in the region.
BMM is already well positioned as the top laboratory in Latin America. What are the main challenges in the region so far? How are events like FADJA improving those challenges?
The online Colombian market counts 17 online active licensees with 1.5 million active and 1.9 million registered players. This data speaks for itself. The Colombian market is a great example for those countries and or provinces that are aiming to legalise online gaming. This doesn’t mean there haven’t been challenges, but I can state, that there has been excellent collaboration among all players, regulators, operators and gaming providers. BMM, as a trusted independent gaming lab, has been able to play a large part in this process also.

The company was recently approved by the Buenos Aires gaming authority LOTBA, in Argentina. Despite the country going through an economic crisis, the government approved iGaming operations in two main provinces. How is the laboratory working there? What are the plans for this year?
BMM Testlabs is a global company, our intention is to take our customers and partners everywhere in the world and this is exactly what we are doing. BMM’s independence and integrity are our major values, and we seek accreditation in every regulated market in the world.
BMM is the most experienced gaming laboratory since 1981 and during ICE Gaming Awards 2019 it was recognized as Top Test Lab. How is the company working in the region as a trusted advisor and thought-leader?
Trusted advisor. That’s exactly the keyword. Our secret receipt is hidden behind these two words, but I won’t disclose the ingredients!
BMM’s independence and integrity are our major values, and we seek accreditation in every regulated market in the world.
How does BMM evaluate the evolution of the gaming industry so far in Latin America?
Colombia’s success is an indicator that more countries will follow its example. Countries like Peru and Argentina (just recently announced Buenos Aires Province) are working to prepare their expansion into the online segment. Mexico is also re-evaluating its current regulatory framework. Finally, our beloved Brazil has created a lot of expectations about the introduction of a legal framework to regularize its market. So, we at BMM foresee exciting times ahead for the whole Latin American region.
