The deal also allows the company to operate a retail sportsbook near the Phoenix Suns Arena, to host and manage online and mobile sports betting services, and to boost brand awareness during games of the team – contingent on a mobile sports betting license being granted to Phoenix Mercury by the Arizona Department of Gaming.
This partnership follows other agreements with sports teams and leagues, such as the one Bally’s signed with the National Hockey Association (NHL) to become Official Sports Betting Partner of the league.
In March, Bally’s entered a similar agreement with the National Basketball League (NBA) to be named its authorised sports betting operator.
Soo Kim, chairman of the board of directors at Bally’s Corporation said: “On behalf of the entire Bally’s Corporation, we are honored to be a part of such an important milestone in the history of women’s sports.”
Jason Rowley, CEO and president of Phoenix Mercury said: “This agreement represents so much more than a team sponsorship; it is a reflection of our shared values and commitment to investing in diversity, equity and inclusion. We could not think of a better way to celebrate the Mercury’s 25th year in the WNBA, and what many consider to be the model franchise.”
