Bally’s puts forward proposal for Virginia casino
Bally’s Corporation has submitted its proposal in the contest to build a casino in Richmond.
US.- Casino operator Bally’s Corporation has submitted the latest proposal for a $650m casino resort in Richmond, Virginia.
The company has joined the contest to build a casino in Richmond after the Virginia state lottery approved regulations for casino gaming.
Bally’s proposal would feature 2,500 slot machines, 90 table games, 30 poker tables, a high-limit gaming area and a sportsbook.
The property would also include a 250-room hotel, 13 restaurants, a retail outlet as well as an entertainment and conference space.
The resort, which would be located on the western border of Richmond, would take around 18 months to construct.
Bally’s said the property would attract 3.7 million visitors a year and create 1,700 full-time jobs in the city.
The company’s president and chief executive, George Papanier said: “Our proposal represents an unprecedented project for the Richmond community that will embrace and showcase the city’s existing culture and traditions in an environment positioned towards entertainment and leisure.
“The Bally’s Richmond would provide the city with a vibrant new attraction that is sure to turn Richmond into a dynamic tourist destination.”
The Cordish Companies has also made a pitch for a casino in Richmond.
Richmond must choose a casino operator, whose proposal will then be put to residents in a referendum in November.
