Yokohama to hold briefings to seek IR support

The city is also looking to attract interest from potential private partners for its casino bid.

Japan.- Yokohama city will hold public briefings on its integrated resorts (IR) draft implementation policy and recruitment guidelines beginning in February.

With the goal of promoting awareness and community support for this project, the city will hold six explanatory briefings between February and March 2021.

The city had held briefings before but the meetings were cancelled due to the Covid-29 pandemic. The briefings now will be held online. They will allow questions from participants and will also be broadcast on YouTube to 18 locations throughout the city, IAG reported.

The prefecture is also hoping to attract potential private partners for its bid for one of three integrated resorts licences that will be issued in Japan. Guidelines for the selection of a partner and for the IR development and operation were published recently.

Genting Singapore is one of the potential private partners that has already expressed interest in the project.
