Tickets for Taiwanese mega jackpot tailored to government vouchers
The lottery operator is pricing ticket packages so they can be purchased with government vouchers issued to stimulate the economy.
Taiwan.- A Taiwanese lottery company’s special ticket packages for Thursday’s draw, which is expected to reach a US$60 million jackpot, can be purchased with government-issued stimulus vouchers.
Taiwan Lottery Co.’s biweekly Super Loto has not had a first-prize winner in 22 weeks. The company estimates this Thursday’s jackpot will reach NT$1.83 billion (US$62.11 million).
Stimulus vouchers issued by the Taiwanese government have a NT$200 (US$6.77) and NT$500 (US$16.9) value, and so Taiwan Lottery Co. has set the price of special ticket packages at those amounts, as well as at NT$700 (US$23.7) and NT$3,000 (US$101).
The vouchers are part of a plan to boost domestic consumption the after tourism and foreign trade diminished due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to Focus Taiwan, the vouchers have been given to Taiwanese citizens and foreign spouses.
