Thailand blocks nearly 184,000 illegal gambling websites

Online betting platforms account for the vast majority URLs shut down since October as authorities deploy AI-driven enforcement tools.

Thailand.- Some 220,486 web addresses were blocked in Thailand between October 1, 2025, and January 11, 2026. Online gambling websites representing by far the largest share at 183,977. December alone saw 116,000 links blocked.

Deputy government spokesperson Airin Phanrit said the results demonstrate “tangible progress” in curbing cybercrime under the government’s “Quick Win” policy, which aims to disrupt key digital channels used by criminal networks.

Thai authorities have increasingly relied on technology to accelerate enforcement. The DES has deployed its WebD platform, which uses artificial intelligence and robotic process automation to detect illegal content, compile evidence, generate paperless court petitions and issue automated blocking orders to internet service providers. A URL Checker system is used to continuously monitor whether blocked sites remain inaccessible.
