MLB games and content will be offered to Australian customers through TAB’s venues, website and app.
Australia.- The country’s largest gambling company, Tabcorp, has announced it has reached a partnership agreement with the US’s Major League Baseball (MLB) to bring content to Australia.
The agreement makes TAB the sole official wagering partner of MLB in Australia and gives its 4,400 venues access to the MLB Network and the Major League Baseball’s 24/7 television channel.
The venues will screen up to 10 live games per week, the company said.
All MLB games will be offered live to Australian customers on the TAB app and website.
Tabcorp’s Managing Director- Wagering & Media Adam Rytenskild said: “There is growing demand for US sports content in Australia, particularly among TAB punters. Baseball is America’s national pastime and this groundbreaking MLB deal – which complements our NBA and NFL partnerships – helps us to fulfil our ambition of being the home of U.S. sport in Australia and to deliver superb experiences for our customers, both in venues and digitally via the app and website.”
MLB Executive Vice President, Gaming & New Business Ventures, Kenny Gersh said its firm wants to “help develop baseball in Australia and grow the game nationwide.”
TAB venues reopened after the Covid-19 lockdown except for about 60 per cent of betting shops in Victoria, which had to go back into quarantine.
