Suncity to sponsor sailing team in Japan amid IR race

The Hong Kong-based gaming operator intends to support sport in Wakayama while it looks to participate in the area’s IR bid.

Japan.- The gaming operator Suncity Group, a Hong Kong-based company interested in developing an integrated resort in Wakayama, has signed a sponsorship agreement with the Japan SailGP Team and its Youth Academy.

The sponsorship will see Suncity assisting the Japan SailGP Team as it prepares for SailGP – a series of F50 catamaran yacht races. The second season of the competition will start in April 2021 with a top prize of US$1 million.

According to the company, Suncity Group aims not only to develop an IR but also to communicate the natural charm of Wakayama, said to be “the country of trees and water.”

The strategy intends to show Wakayama as a “sailing sanctuary” led by Japan SailGP Team.

Suncity has also signed an official sponsorship deal with Wakayama Trians basketball team.
