Suncity: Hoiana to open in 2021
There will be a preview of the integrated resort in Vietnam this year, as Suncity reveals it plans to expand further.
Hong Kong.- Suncity Group has said that Hoiana intergrated resort will be fully operational by 2021.
The message came in the a letter from the chairman Alvin Chau Cheok Wa in the company’s annual report.
In the letter he recognises the local authorities and the Suncity staff for their efforts in navigating the Covid-19 crisis.
He writes: “I am confident that the pandemic will pass, just as every storm eventually runs out of rain and every dark night eventually turns into day.”
The CEO also stressed that in spite of the pandemic, 2019 was a “year in terms of market development” for the company, and listed accomplishments such as entry to the Philippines market through the Westside City Project at Entertainment City in Manila, the recent increase in the company’s stake in Summit Ascent Holdings Limited, and the acquisition of land on Miyako Island (Okinawa, Japan) to build villas and hotel rooms.
In relation to the Westside City Project, he said there will soon be a ground-breaking ceremony, although no date was specified.
However, the goal Chau Cheok Wa considers most important is progress in Suncity’s flagship integrated resort, Hoiana, in Vietnam.
He said: “We are working hard to ensure that Hoiana will be ready to welcome our firsts guests in the preview. All of these set the stage for 2020 and beyond to become transformative years ahead for Suncity.”
He added: “A few years down the line, I envision Suncity’s integrated resort portfolio to be extended all over the key Asian jurisdictions, rivaling peers ahead of us today.”
He confirmed the opening of Hoiana is now scheduled for 2021, as a consequence of the uncertainties brought by the novel coronavirus. The hotel will offer a preview in the summer of 2020.
He said: “Although the flight and visa suspensions to Vietnam may last for some time, Suncity’s investment in Vietnam is intended to stay for a very long time. Hence, our long-term confidence towards the Vietnam market remains positive, given Vietnam’s extraordinary growth prior to the pandemic.”
Hoiana will feature an integrated resort with a casino that has gaming tables, electronic gaming machines, international cuisine and more than 1,000 hotel rooms.
In 2020 the company also expects to complete the upgrade of Tigre de Cristal Phase 1 in Vladivostok, Russia, still the only operating casino in the Primorye Gambling Zone.
