SJM’s Macau talent programme adds 61 students to second cohort
“Forge My Own Journey” combines academic studies with paid workplace training.
Macau.- SJM Resorts has launched the second cohort of its “Forge My Own Journey” Development Programme, with 61 new students joining the four-year initiative focused on developing tourism and hospitality talent in Macau. Launched in 2025 in partnership with the Macao University of Tourism (UTM), the programme combines academic studies with paid workplace training.
The new cohort comes after inaugural intake participants secured first, second and third places in the Hotel Reception category at the 48th WorldSkills Macau Selection Competition. SJM become the only integrated resort operator in Macau to have representatives selected for the Macau delegation to this year’s WorldSkills Competition.
Daisy Ho, managing director of SJM, said: “The SJM ‘Forge My Own Journey’ Development Programme combines academic learning with real-world workplace experience, creating valuable opportunities for Macau youth to develop their skills and realise their potential. The outstanding achievements of our inaugural cohort, including their success at the WorldSkills Macau Selection Competition and selection to represent Macau at the WorldSkills Competition, demonstrate the effectiveness of university-industry collaboration in nurturing the next generation of hospitality professionals with strong expertise and global outlook.”
The programme is supported by Macau’s Labour Affairs Bureau and Education and Youth Development Bureau.
