SJM Resorts hosts European Travel Agents’ and Tour Operators’ Associations in Macau

The casino operator co-hosted the event organised by the Macao Government Tourism Office.

Macau.- SJM Resorts and the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) hosted the European Travel Agents’ and Tour Operators’ Associations (ECTAA) 2025 Macao Summit from June 2 to 5 at the Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau. Around 40 travel professionals and decision-makers from 32 European countries attended representing 80,000 travel agencies and tour operators. The event concluded with a gala dinner.

Daisy Ho, managing director of SJM, said: “The European market is a key focus of our ongoing efforts to diversify Macau’s visitor base, attract high-value travellers, and encourage longer stays. This summit has offered Macau a valuable platform to better understand the evolving preferences of European travellers while fostering collaboration with trade counterparts in areas such as gastronomy, culture, sports and MICE. We hope the delegates will bring Macau’s distinctive appeal back to their home markets and help position the city as a top-of-mind destination for European consumers.”

Macau received 12,955,456 visitors in the first four months of the year. That’s an increase of 12.9 per cent when compared to last year. Same-day visitors (7,578,976) grew by 23.4 per cent while overnight visitors (5,376,480) rose by 0.8 per cent. The cumulative average length of stay of visitors shortened by 0.1 day year-on-year to 1.1 days in the first four months. The duration of stay for same-day visitors (0.2 day) remained unchanged, while that for overnight visitors (2.3 days) increased by 0.1 day.
