Macau Legend expects 90% reduction in H1 loss as impairment charge ends
The operator’s latest estimate comes after its first full six-month period without casino operations.
Macau.- Macau Legend Development has forecast that its first-half loss will fall by about 90.4 per cent to HK$136.8m (US$17.5m), according to a profit alert issued yesterday. The year-on-year change is mainly due to the absence of a HK$1.27bn (US$163.1m) impairment loss on non-financial assets recorded in the first half of 2025. Despite the expected improvement, the group remains loss-making.
The first half of 2026 represents Macau Legend’s first full six-month period without casino operations. Its Casino Legend Palace at Macau Fisherman’s Wharf stopped operating in November 2025 following the termination of its satellite casino arrangement with SJM Resorts.
Macau Legend has since been shifting its business towards non-gaming activities, including hotel operations, conventions and exhibitions, food and beverage services and property leasing.
The latest figures are based on a preliminary review of unaudited consolidated management accounts and could change before the company completes its interim reporting process. The company expects to publish its full interim results by the end of August and advised shareholders and potential investors to exercise caution when dealing in its securities.
