Philippines deports 3 after raid on alleged scam operator in Parañaque City

BI commissioner Joel Anthony Viado has encouraged any other foreign workers at illegal operations to surrender to authorities.

The Philippines.- The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has deported three Chinese nationals who were arrested for alleged links to an offshore gaming operator raided in Parañaque City on January 8. Lyu Xun, 23; Kong Xiangrui, 26; and Wang Shangle, 25, were sent to Xiamen via AirAsia.

BI commissioner Joel Anthony Viado said: “This is only the first batch of deportees. We are working tirelessly to ensure the swift removal of all individuals found violating our immigration laws. We encourage those still here illegally to surrender to authorities voluntarily. Avoid the embarrassment and consequences of arrest. Cooperate now to facilitate your departure.”

Some 450 were arrested in the raid in Parañaque City. The company in Barangay Tambo was alleged to be involved in online scams. Viado said the raid was part of the bureau’s intensified efforts to combat illegal activities related to offshore gaming.
