PAGCOR orders licensee to stop sponsoring controversial online show

The regulator has ordered a licensee to withdraw sponsorship from a programme featuring women without bras.

The Philippines.- The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) has announced that it has ordered a licenced operator to withdraw sponsorship from an online television show hosted by a popular actor that features women not wearing bras.

Jeremy Luglug, PAGCOR assistant vice president for the electronic gaming and licensing department, said he immediately called the licensee after concerns were raised in a podcast. He said the licensee does not own the show and is a Filipino company, not a foreign entity as alleged.

Luglug said: “We will not tolerate such advertising support by any of our licensees for such very demeaning and sex-oriented show. Our licensees have very strict Know Your Customer or KYC protocols to ensure that only those who are 21 years old and above can play. And the same is true with our e-wallet providers.”

He added: “That is why we urge the public, especially our parents, to ensure that young people are not able to access sites that are intended only for adults. We also urge gamers and players to patronize only PAGCOR-licensed gaming operators to preserve the integrity of the gaming industry.”
