Melco Resorts appoints new independent non-executive director

John Peter Ben Wang has been named chairman of the audit and risk committee.

Macau.- Melco Resorts & Entertainment has announced the appointment of John Peter Ben Wang as an independent non-executive director. He has been appointed as chairman of the audit and risk committee and a member of the compensation committee and nominating and corporate governance committee.

Wang previously served as a director of the company from November 2006 to August 2016. From 2011 to 2019, he worked as deputy chairman and executive director of Summit Ascent Holdings.

He served as the chief financial officer of Melco International Development Limited from 2004 to 2009. Before that, he held senior positions at financial institutions and has substantial experience in finance, accounting and investment banking.

Lawrence Ho, chairman and chief executive officer at Melco Resorts, stated: “Melco is delighted to welcome John Wang as one of our independent non-executive directors. His qualifications and experiences will contribute greatly to the Company.”

For the first quarter of the year, Melco reported operating revenue of US$1.23bn, a rise of 11 per cent year-on-year amid improved performance in both gaming and non-gaming operations. It has announced that Grand Dragon Casino and three Mocha clubs, namely Mocha Hotel Royal, Mocha Kuong Fat and Mocha Grand Dragon Hotel, will cease operations before the end of the year.
