Melco highlights support for SME partners

The operator hosted a roadshow to showcase its partner companies.

Macau.- Melco Resorts & Entertainment has said it has generated over MOP 2.6 million (US$325,709) for local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) amid the pandemic.

Melco has implemented several aid programmes since January including roadshows under the Heart of House banner, the Melco SME Academy, and the Express Payment Scheme.

Akiko Takahashi, Executive Vice President and chief of staff to Melco’s chairman and CEO, said: “Under the pandemic situation, the roadshow has helped generate record-breaking sales for participating vendors so far this year, serving as an effective platform for increasing revenue and market exposure for our SME partners.”

The Melco SME Academy, meanwhile, offers training and business development opportunities for small and medium size companies to become better equipped in the face of challenge.

The third initiative, the Express Payment Scheme, was recently launched to ensure Melco’s SME partners get paid within 14 days of receipt of deliverables. It aims to ease cash flow pressures and help suppliers overcome the challenges brought by the pandemic.

Melco itself recently posted a 65.5 per cent drop in revenues for H1.
