Marina Bay Sands closed its doors due to a case of the delta Covid-19 strain.

Singapore.- Marina Bay Sands has announced it will close until August 5 after detecting a case of the Covid-19 delta strain.

The company said it had taken the decision to protect the safety of customers and employees while a full cleaning is carried out. All staff members will be tested.

The Singapore government tightened Covid-19 countermeasures again this week after the Ministry of Health (MOH) reported 182 cases of locally transmitted Covid-19 cases.

Under the new restrictions, the number of people allowed to gather will be reduced from a maximum five to just two. Dining out is banned, but restaurants can offer takeaway. The new measures are due to remain in place until August 18.

The last time Marina Bay Sands was closed was in May, when two casino dealers tested positive for Covid-19. The company reopened its doors 24 hours later after carrying out deep cleaning.
