Marina Bay Sands charity festival raises record US$5.5m
The 12th edition of the Sands for Singapore Charity Festival brought total funds raised since 2013 to more than S$52m.
Singapore.- Marina Bay Sands has raised more than S$7m (US$5.5m) through the 12th edition of its Sands for Singapore Charity Festival. The new record haul brings the amount raised through the annual initiative since its launch in 2013 to more than S$52m.
MBS said the funds will benefit organisations supporting people with disabilities, low-income families and other vulnerable communities, as well as young people and senior citizens. This year’s festival introduced several new fundraising initiatives.Dine for Good was a month-long campaign involving 12 celebrity-chef and signature restaurants at Marina Bay Sands. Proceeds from selected dishes supported AWWA’s Enabled Living @ Bedok programme, which aims to help people with disabilities to live more independently.
The resort also launched Impact Match, an interactive digital game supporting students at NorthLight School. The festival’s programme also included the Good Bites Market, Giving Marketplace, live performances, the Community Chest Heartstrings Walk and the Race to the Sky Vertical Marathon. The Community Chest Heartstrings Walk and Vertical Marathon raised more than S$5.2m for social service programmes benefitting more than 94,000 users across over 300 programmes and projects.
Marina Bay Sands employees also took part in five weeks of volunteering activities connected to the festival. According to the resort, its workforce has contributed nearly 145,000 volunteer hours since the property opened in 2010.
