Macau.- Macau recorded 1.14 million visitor arrivals during this year’s seven-day October Golden Week. Official data shows 1,142,974 arrivals between October 1 and 7 for an average of 163,282 per day, 15.5 per cent above last year’s daily average.

Arrivals peaked on October 4 at 210,276, a new single-day record for the National Day holiday period. Traffic had climbed from 169,635 on October 1 to 179,253 on October 2 and 191,661 on October 3. Arrivals then fell to 169,631 on October 5 and 131,185 on October 6, before dropping to 91,333 on October 7.

This year’s October Golden Week holiday was a day shorter than last year’s but saw a similar number of arrivals. Mainland China remained the dominant source market. According to Macao Government Tourism Office data, mainland visitors accounted for 905,944 of the 1.05 million arrivals recorded during the first six days, while Hong Kong contributed 101,947 visitors. 

Land crossings accounted for the bulk of arrivals. During the first five days, the Border Gate recorded 533,967 visitors, followed by Hengqin with 245,311 and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge with 157,873.
