Macau: visitors down 10.2% in first days of Chinese New Year
Macau received a daily average of 11,600 visitors on the first three days of the Chinese New Year.
Macau.- The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) shared the first data on Chinese New Year arrivals and revealed the city welcomed nearly 35,000 visitors in the first three days of the national holiday.
The daily average of 11,600 was down 10,2 per cent when compared to 2021 results. The number of mainland tourists in the first three days of the holiday this year was about 32,100. Mainland China is currently the only place with a quarantine-free travel arrangement with Macau.
A representative of the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) had previously told local media he expected Macau to receive 20,000 daily visitors during the Chinese New Year Golden Week.
In 2021, the city welcomed a total of 90,615 visitors, with a daily average number of 12,945 tourists.
