Macau tops Chinese outbound tourism satisfaction ranking for second year
Macau has retained its first-place position in the China Tourism Academy’s annual survey.
Macau.- An annual survey has found Macau to have the highest satisfaction ranking as an outbound travel destination for mainland Chinese tourists for the second consecutive year. Macau tops the 2025 Top 10 Destinations for Chinese Outbound Tourist Satisfaction, ahead of New Zealand, Australia, Hong Kong, Argentina, Spain, Singapore, Italy, France and the United Kingdom.
The survey is conducted by the China Tourism Academy, a research institution under China’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism. According to the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), Macau received particularly high ratings in the categories of leisure and entertainment and accommodation at tourist attractions.
The results were announced during a tourism seminar in Beijing attended by MGTO deputy director Cheng Wai Tong. The tourism bureau attributed the achievement to the combined efforts of the city’s tourism and hospitality sectors in enhancing visitor experiences and strengthening Macau’s appeal as an international travel destination.
Figures show the city received 29 million mainland Chinese visitors in 2025, an increase of 18.5 per cent year-on-year. The figure represented 72.4 per cent of Macau’s total 40.07 million visitor arrivals last year. During the first five months of 2026, mainland arrivals reached 13.34 million.
