Macau: SJM donates care packages to families in need
Macau gambling operators ups its Coronavirus relief efforts.
Macau.- Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, S.A. (SJM) has increased its Coronavirus relief efforts, donating a further MOP$1.5 million (€165,000) in the form of Macau Jiayou Bags.
The bags, packed by SJM staff, will be distributed to 3,000 families in Macau, including solitary and vulnerable elderly, single-parent families, the chronically ill and persons with disabilities.
Each bag contains rice, noodles, oatmeal, canned food, toilet paper, masks, hand sanitisers and other daily necessities, all purchased from local SME vendors.
SJM volunteers will also provide a door-to-door delivery service alongside six local organisations including the Macao Federation of Trade Unions, General Union of Neighbourhood Associations of Macau, The Women’s General Association of Macau, Caritas Macau, Macau Special Olympics and Macau Association of the Hearing Impaired.
“Standing firmly with the Macau community in combating the Coronavirus, SJM is pleased to share love and warmth with Macau’s needy families, while showing our support for the local SMEs,” SJM Chairman, Daisy Ho, said.
“We sincerely thank our community partners for their whole-hearted assistance, and our staff members for their active participation. United in love, we are confident that the Central Government will win this battle against the epidemic, and the Macau SAR government will lead us through this challenging time”, SMJ said in a statement.
