Macau casino operators launched various campaigns to increase vaccination rates among their employees by offering special paid leave and other benefits.

Galaxy Entertainment Group has allowed one day of Family Vaccine Leave per elegible family member for employees who need to accompany their children under 18 or parents aged 70. Its programme will run until June 30. GEG said nearly 95 per cent of its team members have been vaccinated.

Last December, Ho Iat Seng, Macau’s chief executive said that once the city achieved an 80 per cent vaccination rate, it would be easier to negotiate a travel bubble with other regions.

However, Hong Kong has recorded a new rise in Covid-19 cases despite efforts to achieve a zero-coronavirus policy. The country may delay mass testing for Covid-19 to focus on reducing deaths and caring for the elderly.
