Macau: Melco donates 500,000 surgical masks
Gaming operator continues to assist local government in its fight against Coronavirus.
Macau.- Melco Resorts & Entertainment continues to help Macau fight against Covid-19, donating 500,000 surgical masks to the local government.
This comes after a US$2.6million donation in late January and a US$620,000 Special Aid Fund donation in mid February.
More than 200,000 masks will be sent directly to NGOs under the Social Welfare Bureau (IAS) and the rest will go to help vulnerable groups in the community such as the elderly, single families, long-term patients and medical patient support staff, according to Inside Asian Gaming.
“We trust the combined efforts of the Macao SAR Government, businesses and members of the public will enable us to collectively overcome COVID-19 and become an ever-stronger and more united community,” Melco Chairman and CEO, Lawrence Ho, said.
“We are grateful for the Government’s continued anti-epidemic efforts and hope the mask donation will support frontline medical workers in their daily fight against the spread of the virus,” he added.
Melco was the first gaming operator to donate money to help to fight the virus. Those funds were used to purchase medical supplies and support local communities in Wuhan and Hubei.
