Macau.- Hotel occupancy in Macau averaged 91.3 per cent during China’s October Golden Week holiday, with the rate reaching 97 per cent on October 2, according to figures released by the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO). The average occupancy rate across Macau hotels rose by 3.1 percentage points compared with the same period in 2025.

Despite stronger occupancy, the average room rate was down 1.7 per cent year-on-year at MOP1,677.3 (US$207). The figures cover hotels, apartment hotels and economical accommodation establishments.

The seven-day holiday ran from October 1 to 7. Macau recorded 1,142,974 visitor arrivals during the period, according to the MGTO. The daily average rose by 15.5 per cent year-on-year to 163,282. Arrivals peaked on October 4, when 210,276 entries were recorded, a new single-day record for the National Day holiday period.

Tourism initiatives and events during the holiday included the 34th Macao International Fireworks Display Contest and community activities designed to encourage visitors to explore different districts and support local businesses.

Authorities carried out inspections and coordinated visitor-flow management measures during the peak period. Between October 1 and 7, the MGTO conducted 187 inspections at entry points, tourist attractions, shopping areas and hotels, among other locations.
