Macau GP: biggest increase in visitors in nine months
According to the tourism office, 28,000 visitors arrived in the city on the first day of the Macau Grand Prix.
Macau.- The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) has said that the Macau Grand Prix (GP) over the weekend drove the biggest growth in visitor numbers in nine months.
The first day of the motor competition and the race practice day on November 20 saw over 28,000 visitor arrivals.
The Macau GP took place from November 19 to 22. It was the first edition of the event without an F3 race. The lack of international participants also led the Macau Sports Bureau to cancel the Motorcycle race.
The government of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government launched a “Tour Macao Carnival” earlier this month to highlight Macao as a safe destination for travel.
The initiative involved the Macau GP and the Macau Food Festival along with other activities for tourism promotion.
The Tourism Office added that it “has been making strenuous efforts to further promote the destination in a diversity of ways and strive for more visitations from the Mainland to Macao during festivals and holidays.”
