Macau GGR drops 8.4% year-over-year in July
Gross gaming revenue was US$2.51bn in the seventh month of the year.
Macau.- The Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) has reported that Macau’s gross gaming revenue (GGR) was MOP20.26bn (US$2.51bn) in July. That’s a decrease of 8.4 per cent in year-on-year terms but a rise of 9.4 per cent compared to June’s MOP18.52bn (US$2.29bn). Average daily GGR was MOP654m (US$81m), up 5.9 per cent from the previous month.
It had been expected that the FIFA World Cup could have a significant impact on gaming revenue. The competition, which began on June 11 and ended on July 19, was the first World Cup to feature 48 teams, up from 32 in previous editions. A recovery is now expected following the tournament, supported by Macau’s entertainment calendar.
Cumulatively, Macau’s GGR for the first seven months of 2026 was MOP147.16bn (US$18.22bn), up 4.4 per cent year-on-year. The figure remains 15.4 per cent below pre-pandemic levels in 2019, when GGR totalled MOP173.96bn (US$21.53bn).
