Jeju Dream Tower hotel gets 5-star rating

Confirmation of the five-star status for the South Korean hotel is expected to accelerate the transfer of casino operations from Lotte Hotel Jeju.

South Korea.- The Grand Hyatt Jeju, Jeju Dream Tower’s hotel, has been awarded a 5-star rating.

Experts say the confirmation will accelerate the process of transferring casino operations from the current Lotte Hotel Jeju to the tower, although the company still needs authorisation from the governor.

There will be a Casino Supervisory Committee meeting on the issue on February 22.

Lotte Tour Development’s US$1.4bn project recently opened its doors. The company has also moved its headquarters from Seoul to the tower.

Some of the 1,300 employees hired for the venue have been working at the new property since October to set up initial operations.

The casino is expected to be inaugurated on March 11.

Aside from the 1,600-room Grand Hyatt hotel, the 38-storey tower also houses 14 restaurants and bars, a shopping mall, an outdoor pool, two spas and a top-floor skydeck lounge.

The Dream Tower foreigner-only casino is expected to open with 140 gaming tables, 190 slot machines, and 70 electronic gaming machines.
