Indian racecourse launches online betting platform
Only players from Karnataka state will be able to use the system, which will be in place for the winter season of horseracing.
India.- The Mysore Race Course (MRC) has launched an online platform for betting on horseracing.
The platform is believed to be the first of its kind in India, where legislation on online betting is a grey area mandated by each state.
Mysore (Mysuru) is located in the Indian state of Karnataka. other states in the country have issued bans against online betting after a series of suicides related to gambling problems.
Clubs in Mysuru, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Kolkata have obtained permission for online betting, but MRC is the first to implement a platform. It comes just in time for the winter season of horseracing, which begins on November 11.
The platform will only be open to residents of Karnataka. MRC president Dr N Nityananda Rao said that users will have to provide their Aadhar number and bank details in order to register.
