Indian gaming market to reach US$5bn by 2022
The real money games segment is expected to be worth around US$1.7bn.
India.- With the pandemic accelerating the adoption of gaming in India, Bernstein Research expects the market to grow a further 37 per cent to reach US$5 billion by 2022.
The real money games segment will grow by 40 per cent to be worth about US$1.7 billion, the analysts believe.
Multiple gaming platforms will see growth of 30 to 40 per cent in daily active users, with longer sessions and deeper engagement they said.
They expect the fantasy sports segment to be the fastest growing real money market. It’s already increased its reach by 5 times over the past three years, reaching 100 million users.
The adoption of gaming is being boosted by the younger Indian population, widespread smartphone use, and the low cost of data connections in the country, along with the rise of more affluent households, with an annual income of more than US$15,000.
