SJM Holdings hopes to open Grand Lisboa Palace in May or June but the exact date remains subject to market conditions.
Macau.- After reporting a net loss of nearly HKD3.03bn (US$390.2m) for 2020, SJM Holdings has announced that the opening of Grand Lisboa Palace has been delayed again.
The Cotai integrated resort was originally due to open in 2017 but has faced multiple delays over the years.
The construction has been completed and final inspections are taking place. The company hopes an occupation permit will be issued in March or April allowing the complex to open in May or June.
A staggered opening for hotels and non-gaming facilities has been ruled by the casino operator to reduce costs.
In the meantime, the company has expressed an interest in Japan and other opportunities in the Asian market, although it will remain primarily focused on Macau.
