Genting Malaysia working on Genting SkyWorlds opening

Genting Malaysia says “preparations are underway” for its new outdoor theme park but it hasn’t announced an opening date.

Malaysia.- Genting Malaysia has confirmed that preparations are underway for the opening of its Genting SkyWorld outdoor theme park but it still hasn’t specified when it will open to the public. Earlier this month, analysts at Maybank predicted that the theme park could open near Chinese New Year on February 1.

Analysts said: “We expected Genting SkyWorlds to open on December 10, 2021, but it did not come to pass. Channel checks inform us that Genting Malaysia is ‘ironing out’ software issues and hopes to open Genting SkyWorlds for Chinese New Year.”

Last October, analysts at RHB Research visited the venue and described Genting SkyWorlds as a possible “crowd-puller for other RWG facilities, potentially leading to higher-than-expected visitor arrivals.“ 

Genting Malaysia to return to profitability in 2022, analysts say

Genting Malaysia could return to profitability in 2022 according to analysts at RHB Investment Bank, despite the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and the new Omicron variant.

In the report, analysts stated: “Many countries are now better equipped and nimble in handling the pandemic. 

“Coupled with the massive cost rationalisation efforts undertaken previously by the casino operators, these should partially cushion the impact. Both the casino operators will resume recovering after the Covid-19 situation stabilises.”
