Joey Pather is the new VP of MICE sector of Galaxy

The challenge of the new VP is to develop Phase 3 of Cotai casino resort, Galaxy Macau

Macau.- Galaxy Entertainment Group Ltd confirmed last Thursday that Joey Pather is the group’s senior vice president of MICE sector. Before, Pather was chief executive of Guangdong Tanzhou International Convention and Exhibition Centre in the city of Foshan, Guangdong. 

“In his new role, Mr Pather will be responsible for the overall vision and strategic execution of the Convention Center. He will also develop its suite of MICE event solutions and venue management services to drive demand optimisation,” said the casino operator in a written announcement.

“Mr Pather has a demonstrated track record of leading and strategizing conference and exhibition centre development – from planning, marketing and promotion to stakeholder relationships and operations management,” added the company.

The challenge of the new VP is to develop Phase 3 of Cotai casino resort, Galaxy Macau. The resort will have a 16,000-seat arena and is supposed to be open in late 2020 or early 2021. It will also feature 1,500 hotel rooms, some casino space and 400,000 square feet of MICE space.

The company announced in early November that it plans to open an Andaz hotel in Macau in the first half of 2021. It will boast more than 700 rooms and suites, plus a dedicated check-in lounge catering to large MICE groups. Also, an Andaz lounge, a bar and restaurant, a state-of-the-art fitness centre and an indoor pool.
