Galaxy Entertainment has reported that 82 per cent of its staff has been vaccinated while Melco Resorts has reached a 75 per cent vaccination rate.

Macau.- Casino operators have announced high vaccination rates among their employees in Macau. Galaxy Entertainment says that 82 per cent of its staff have been vaccinated although it is not known if that refers to full vaccination or a single dose.

Melco Resorts & Entertainment, which gave each employee a bonus of MOP1,000 (US$125) after getting vaccinated, has reported that more than 75 per cent of its employees have been fully vaccinated.

Lawrence Ho, chairman & CEO of Melco Resorts & Entertainment, said: “Melco established colleague immunity as a key company objective to ensure a safe environment for colleagues, guests and the community.

“I am grateful that our colleagues are taking this important step towards protecting themselves and the community and for helping us turn the page to a better, brighter tomorrow as we prepare to welcome visitors back to the city.”

The news comes after Macau lifted its pandemic prevention alert. Authorities said a “zero-Covid” policy would remain in place until vaccination rates in the city reach 80 to 90 per cent. As of today, 437,869 people have been vaccinated and only 49.1 per cent are fully vaccinated.
