Delta Corp has announced it will resume operations in Sikkim from today. Its casinos in Goa will remain closed until July 12.

India.- Delta Corp has announced that it will resume operations in Sikkim after having temporarily suspended operations in the first week of May when authorities introduced a curfew due to a surge in Covid-19 cases.

Authorities in Sikkim originally planned to end the curfew on June 14 but the rate of infection remained high for most of the last month.

Delta Corp said: “The Government of Sikkim has allowed reopening of the casinos in the State subject to the safety norms being followed. 

“Further the company and/or its subsidiary operating the Casino in the state of Sikkim will resume its operations from July 06, 2021 and will follow all the safety norms laid down by the state in this regards.”

Casinos in Goa to remain closed until July 12

Delta Corp’s casinos in Goa will remain closed until July 12 as the number of Covid-19 cases remains high.

The company added: “We are unable to estimate the quantum of potential losses on account of this temporary closure and the pandemic at this time-“

Casinos in Goa have been closed since April 29. In May, Delta Corp asked authorities for a waiver on licence fees due to the impact on its venues.

It reported that it is debt-free and has adequate liquidity available to comply with its liabilities and obligations, but management asked the state government of Goa for a reduced payment mechanism for its casino licence fees for the period from April 2020 to October 2020.
